Modern Japan is known for its highly distinctive graphic styles such as manga, anime, cosplay, and the remixed artistry of Tomokazu Matsuyama (Matzu). Toshiba, founded in Japan, has made a name for itself by honoring its rich Japanese history and crafting cutting-edge technology—for example, the new Portégé Z20t complete with 17 hours of battery life. Use those 17 hours (or more) to illustrate how digital technology has changed our world by merging modern Japanese graphic styles with one of the classic images below. The Toshiba Seriously Japanese Contest begins at 6:00AM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) on June 25, 2015 and at 11:59:59 (AEST) on August 9, 2015.
- Entrant must be at least 13 years old as of June 25, 2015.
- Entrant must be a resident of Australia or New Zealand as of the date of their entry.
- Entries must be received by 11:59:59 on August 9, 2015 and be submitted through the contest gallery on DeviantArt.
- Membership to www.deviantart.com is required to enter the Contest. Membership to www.deviantart.com is free.
- Entrant must follow the instructions on the Contest Site and submit a completed entry of an artwork (“the Work”) that illustrates how digital technology has changed our world merging modern Japanese graphic styles with one of the classic Japanese images provided. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
- The Work may originate in any medium but must be submitted in the form a single .jpg or .png
- The Work must be entirely original to the entrant with the exception of the assets provided for the contest.

The winning entries will be selected by a representative from Toshiba Australia. The judge will use the following criteria in whatever degree the judge believes to be appropriate.
