The Holiday Card Project returned in 2013, and it was a total hit! We received over 5,000 cards from 2,000 deviants in more than 60 different countries! A ton of deviants reached out to us, interested in helping to distribute cards to their local hospitals! With these volunteers' help, we distributed cards to 22 hospitals in the US and abroad!
The majority of the hospitals we worked with distributed the cards themselves, either through their own volunteers or by placing cards on the food trays of patients. We received letters of thanks from some hospitals, and a few even shared our cards on their Facebook pages! One thing all of the hospitals and patients had in common: they loved your cards!
One of our biggest surprises this year came from Bank of America! A deviant who works there got word of our project and told some people around the corporate office, who decided to participate. From there, participation spread to the various Los Angeles branches. By the time the cards were dropped off, Bank of America had collected over 1,000 cards for our project!
wreckling and I had the chance to deliver cards at St. Francis Hospital in Los Angeles! We met with Linda Woo, the Community Affairs Specialist, and she was thrilled that we had thought of St. Francis in our project! We handed out cards in both English and Spanish to the skilled nursing unit, where some patients had been for an extended period of time.
The most touching moment came when wreckling and I gave a card in Spanish to a woman who didn't understand English named Rosa. It was clear that she had not expected to be given a card she could understand, and was clearly overjoyed when she opened the card and saw "Feliz Navidad" inside.
As this was a community project, we relied on the help of our community to give out cards around the world! We would not have been able to reach nearly as many hospitals without the help of our volunteers. A big thank you goes out to Lou-in-Canada, miontre, WitTea, Wintella, Ayame-Kenoshi, and GlendaWolfie for handing out cards at their local hospitals!
Check out some of the photos from their deliveries!

Ayame-Kenoshi received a huge "Thank You" from the kids at Cleveland Clinic for the cards we gave them!
I'd also like to thank all of the deviantART staff members who helped sort cards to be sent out: Shyree, Heidi, LaurenKitsune, wreckling, danlev, DavidImir, breathemuzik, C1arkKent, and makepictures.
Of course, the biggest "thank you" goes out to all of you, the deviants who created the amazing cards that made so many people's days just a bit brighter! We absolutely could not have had such a successful project without the time and effort that all of you put in. Projects like this just prove that deviantART really is such a special community, and we appreciate every single one of you.
