Guardians of the Galaxy by PatrickBrown
Guardians of the Galaxy is the new sci-fi adventure we've all been waiting for, jam-packed with the perfect amount of comedy, action, and Chris Pratt. The newest Marvel movie featuring six anti-heroes and their journey to become actual heroes has stolen our hearts. But how much do you know about the movie and the comic that inspired it?

Trailer:

Deviant AlexGarner was one of the official cover artists for the Guardians of the Galaxy covers! (He's since switched over to working on covers for DC Comics).

The Story Behind the Comic
  • First published in 1969, the Guardians of the Galaxy comic featured a completely different team  of superheroes fighting crime in space in the 31st century. The team was made up of heroes from Earth, Jupiter, Pluto, and Centauri-IV. Each was the last of their kind.
  • They were replaced with the new team in 2008, featuring Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Racoon, Adam Warlock, Quasar, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot.
  • Adam Warlock and Quasar are not featured in the new movie (although Adam Warlock may have had a cameo...)
  • Thanos, who is featured as a villain in Guardians of the Galaxy, also appears at the end of the Avengers movie.
The film has also spurred a great deal of creativity! Here's some of the amazing fan art to come out:

I've seen the movie. It . Was. Awesome.
I know about the Thanos part. When I was in the cinema, Thanos showed up on the screen and I turned to my sister ( who was completely uninterested ) and kept nudging her. She STILL doesn't get it. The Collector ( dude with the white hair ) appeared at the end of 'Thor: The Dark World'.

Of course, you get the joke from the first Paul Renaud cover, right?

(Hint, Spider Man, said by Mary Jane.)

I haven't read any of the original Guardians of the Galaxy comics. But I have read the comics regarding.... ah, hm, how do I keep this spoiler-free----regarding the big mega-story-arc the past umpteen Marvel movies have been spinning toward. And as far as that overlying story goes, I was satisfied with this movie. :)

Also.... Groot is so much love. :happycry:

Haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm definitely going to watch it soon! Can't wait! I know a bit about the Guardians, since I've seen them appear a few times in a TV show and I've also read a couple of comics that featured them. I already love Rocket and Groot ~
But, to be honest, when I first saw the trailer, I was kinda disappointed that there wasn't even any mention of Nova. I hoped that he would appear too... Oh well, he might just get his own movie someday, and I still feel like this is going to be my favourite movie soon enough anyway lol :happybounce:

I just saw the movie with my fiancé. :la: I thought it was awesome! I laughed, I cried... ;w; I haven't unfortunately read any of the original comics; I'm not really a comic-reading person, but I guess I should (same goes with TWD comics :P ). Amazing fan art here. :la:

I have seen the movie, and I enjoyed it a lot! I never had read the comics, so I'm not sure about the story line or comparing the two, but I really enjoyed the humor they were able to bring in. The entire theater was almost in tears several times because everyone was laughing just SO MUCH!

Just from the first several minutes when Starlord was dancing, I already knew it was going to be a bit of a different kind of movie XD

1) It's not out here in Indonesia, the release date here is 20th August. But I'm going to make sure to watch it in the opening day!
2) -
3) I have read the 2008 version (the Annihilation: Conquest storyline)and first three volumes of the 2013 version (the reboot I suppose?). I'll say that first it's a bit...weird? Quill is suddenly blonde and Gamora has surely put off a lot of her muscles. But other than some physical changes, it seems quiet good. Plus the newest version has Iron Man. (though it is highly unlikely that Robert Downey J.R will do a cameo appearance here, since he won't star in any MCU movies other than Iron Man and Avengers. )

I got to see it a few days before it's release, to review. (coming any day now)

To keep it short and spoiler-free, I thought it was great, but had a few character issues and storyline tropes I didn't appreciate. But Rocket lived up to my expectations, and that's what I cared most about!

Especially at the end. Music
