these contests aren't even judged fairly. they only pick through the people that could do their artwork for a living. that immediately erases more than 50% of the entries.

When it states: "(x) may not use any watermarks or distinguishing artist marks" in the rules, does that include signatures?  Because I'm considering going back and removing mine just to be safe.

A signitures is as much apart of art as the artist itself creating a sig to go on your art is like putting your tumbprint on a door it represents you. A watermark is a digital mark made over the majority of your work  faded but often found annoying.

NP you actually find sigs all over most are on a corner of the peice of art, some are on a plate below art in a frame. It depends on the artist but it helps to identify the work without subtracting the value of it.

Yeah, I'm familiar with signing your work, it's just the way the rules stated it, because I consider a signature to be a distinguishing mark for the artist, because it tells the viewer who did it, so they way they worded it was just a little scary.  It seemed silly to potentially disqualify a work because the artist signed it, but with the way some people can be about rules, I didn't want to take any chances.  I didn't make the cut anyway, but I'm glad for those who did.

I would have been surprised if everything goes normally... with the last commission I entered, they didn't even announce the winners AT ALL, I only learned that I didn't win when I saw the winning entry being sold as a T-shirt.

At least some read the rules heh. I think the main reason its taking so long is they have to weed out the entries that did not comply with the submision rules like what your supposed to put in the description. There are also some who just did anything at their best level and really did not meet the spirit of the contest.

Very true also as the criteria of judgment varies from each individual, the judges are not looking for the best of the best artists but rather are looking for who interpreted what the theme they choose the best. And there are two panels of judges as well 'honorary mention' will be a wacom judge. Which if wacom personel have the holidays off it may delay the judging by a few days. There is also the issue of contacting the winners too each round of contacts gets a certain time to respond to the winning if they dont they have to select another.

I think no. It means that your entry may not include symbols, that are already created and used by any third party. See symbols like icons - for example the icon you click on your computer to open up the settings, a folder or the desktop. You cannot use the exact same icon, because it's created and used by Microsoft or Apple - depends on the OS you're working with.
I do not think that hearts are prohibited. Greetings
